The incredibly beautiful stream is home to a healthy population of wild rainbow and brown trout creating a tremendous fishery which offers the chance to catch strong, hard fighting fish that can push the measuring tape well past 20 inches. The Jackson River is a fly fishing paradise with productive and diverse opportunities ranging from enticing riffles and pocket water to deep pools. Fishing with attractor dry flies, caddis and mayfly patterns are effective most of the year while pulling streamers through the deeper runs for the bigger browns is worth the effort especially in the Fall. The stream can produce spectacular days of dry fly fishing using proven local favorites such as a Carlson Purple Haze or Royal Wulff. Big Fish River Camp is a tranquil refuge in a stunning mountain setting that contains a total of 67.90 acres with approximately 4,400 feet of stream frontage on the Jackson River. A noteworthy bend in the stream at Johnson Spring serves as the home pool on the property. Ingress and egress to the tract is provided by an all weather road off State Route 687 (Jackson River Road).
